Another Easy DIY Floursack Towel Pillow

July 1, 2012

I love white.  But I especially love white in the summer.
And I have a thing for floursack towel pillows.
You may remember when my floursack towel romance
started here {monogram pillow tutorial}.
Then it resurfaced again here {easy DIY bolster pillow cover}.
And today I have another fine example of floursack towel pillow love.  Feast your eyes.

NOTE: ANNOYED ALERT, Blogger won't let me make my pictures bigger.

Sorry.

Moving right along...
I'm talking about the one in the middle, with the vintage "star" on it.  I made this pillow exactly like I did the monogram pillow, only, well, without the monogram.  I bought the vintage doily at a local barn sale a while back.  I think it was $1.00.  Seriously.

After I made the pillow cover, I slipped in the pillow form and hand-sewed the final opening shut.  Then I attached the vintage star doily with a spray adhesive I already had from another project. Any chance to avoid sewing and I'm your girl.

NOTE: Spray the doily, not the pillow.
You can get this for $5.52 on Amazon.

I got mine at Michael's with the ever-so-handy 40% off coupon.

Oh, and I can't forget to mention the grain sack pillow.  I'm loving it on the bed with the rest of the summer whites.  (Okay, it's a bit beige, but who's gonna tell?)  And funny that it didn't even register when I bought it that it, too, was a monogram pillow in it's own right since our last name begins with A.  I love it when that happens.

Have you changed your decor around the house in honor of summer?

What have you done to bring the summer in?

xoxo

Kathleen, I love this! Your pillows are lovely! The doily pillow is so pretty! I also love the floursack one too! You're full of great ideas! My Grandmother made pillows and quilts from all her old floursacks- such fond memories!

Very nice pillow....easy peasy is what we need sometimes. The pillow looks great :) FYI- If you adjust the width setting of your template in blogger you can have larger pictures...that's what I had to do.

Those are so pretty - your did a great job on them. I have always had many decorative pillows around, but have started downsizing them.
Hope you enjoyed your weekend and staying cool.

Beautiful pillows!!
I love pillows on the bed, but my yorkie puppy thinks they are her toys, so I had to put them all away until she grows up a bit.

Okay, I just did a project a week or two ago, where I sewed a doily on a pillow, but I haven't posted the project yet. That is so funny! Hasn't this happened before where we have the same things or similar things? Love all of those pillows.

Hi Kathy, We've had this talk before, someone crocheted this, spent hours and hours and then it's sold for a dollar. Glad you found it and did something beautiful with it. Have a wonderful 4th my friend. Love, penny

Love the pillow. I love ALL the pillows. I actually like that the grain sack one is a slightly different color. It adds depth and interest!

Love your pillows, Kathleen! Your bed looks so cool dressed in whites. Your monogram pillows are great. I have yet to try out the embroidery function on my new sewing machine, but I'm hoping to get a day to sit with the book and practice. The first thing I'm going to do is a monogram!
