The Latest Trend: Glass Bottle Table Lamps

February 28, 2012

Things have been crazy around here recently so I haven't had time for much crafting so to speak, but I did manage to hit a local Goodwill this past weekend.  I saw the prize, and sent my daughter scrambling for a shopping cart.  I picked this baby up right away before another shopper nabbed it up got it.  It's part of a trend that we've all seen in magazines and on blogs these past months.  The glass bottle lamp.  Right after I got home I received the latest Ballard Designs catalog and lo and behold, what to my wandering eyes should appear right there on page 4?

$149.00

Wow.  Mine's a bit different, but I think they're pretty similar. And guess how much mine cost?

Read it and weep, people.

 That's right. $2.99.

Well, OK, it didn't have a shade, but for that price whose complaining?

I paired it with a burlap drum shade recently purchased from Target.  I think it's a good match!

I like that mine has the "No. 5" on it.  Makes it just a bit funkier than your average glass bottle lamp.

I must admit that Google got the best of me and I searched for similar lamps.  I came up with a fabulous vintage bottle lamp I just have to share with you.

$395.00

What do you think?  I love it.  But my empty wallet sure doesn't.

I think I'll enjoy the one I've got for the price I paid.

Sweet.

Do you have any glass bottle lamps?

What do you think of my fabulous find?

Could you see this in your home?

I love it!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

Antique Farmhouse Crush and Some Awesome Frenchy Presents!

February 22, 2012

I'd have to say that some birthdays are more memorable than others.  I think my recent birthday (29, of course) will have to be filed under: "Birthdays to remember cause I got me some cool gifts."

First off, have you heard of Antique Farm House?  They're a new online retailer that I have absolutely fallen in love with!  I was lucky enough to receive one of their many awesome shabby chic items for my birthday this year.  The kids gave me their Luxe Rough pillow.  I mean, don't you just love it?  I even love the name.  Luxe.  Rough.  It's so French (another one of my current obsessions, along with pillows -- what could be better?)

And yes, I pinned it.

It almost makes turning  48 39 29 not so bad!

The second incredible gift I received was a chaise longue from Mr. CBD. Yes, you read that right.  A. chaise. longue.  Say it with me now, "shezz---lohng!"  And I couldn't be happier.  I really don't think the pictures do it justice but I did my best to capture some of it's savvy style.

Goes pretty awesomely with the pillow, non?  Like a match made in heaven.

And the tufting, oh the tufting.

And the nailhead trim.

Here's the original pillow it came with.

With my faux mink throw, love this for cold snowy days by the fire.

Here's my Luxe Rough pillow up close and personal.

So to recap:

Antique Farm House announces new sales events a few times a week starting at 11:00 a.m. EST.  You should head over there right now and sign up to receive their e-mails.  Go ahead, I'll wait.

Okay, then.  Here are a few more items currently being offered by Antique Farm House this week.

No, I'm not being paid for this plug.  Really, I just love their stuff.

And I am beyond happy (you might say giddy) with my birthday presents.   I feel very blessed, indeed.

Like I said, it sure takes the sting out of turning 48 39 29.  Think I'll just have to go lounge on my chaise longue with that awesome pillow today.

Snow flurries and fairly warm temperatures here today (for the midwest, that is).

Hope you're having a great week.

Vintage Locket Love

February 17, 2012

Seriously, I kid you not.  My last three vintage designs were all locket necklaces.  I'm just in love with filigree antique brass lockets.  They're just so delicate.  And coupled with a bit of vintage bling, well, that's the way I like them.  Today's necklace is adorned with a vintage pearl and rhinestone earring.

Simple, delicate and elegant.

Soon to be in my Etsy shop.

Do you like lockets?

I'm not sure how much DIY-ing will go on this weekend since the kids are home for a four-day holiday.  Maybe if it's unseasonably warm again tomorrow (one can always hope) there might be some painting in my future?

Whatever you do, have a great weekend!

Map Wall Art

February 14, 2012

You see them all over these days.

Maps.

I've been a bit obsessed with them.

And if Pinterest is any indication,

I'm not the only one.

I was so inspired that I went ahead and created my own Valentine's map wall art for my husband this year.

These four maps represent very special places in our lives together --all the places that we've lived together since we were married, where we each grew up and where we vacation every year with our families.  I used vintage dictionary pages to make the hearts and the "LOVE."

Home IS where the heart is.

What would YOUR map look like?

Cupid's Arrow Red Velvet Cupcakes

February 12, 2012

You've got to try these Red Velvet Cupcakes I found over at  Bakerella.  The recipe comes with a FREE DOWNLOAD of Cupid's arrow hearts like you see in the picture.

Since V-Day is tomorrow, I'm planning on buying {gasp, I know} mini-cupcakes from the grocery store and adding V-day sprinkles and these adorable cupid's arrows!  I'm going to surprise the kids with them on Valentine's Day morning.  Who says you can't have cupcakes for breakfast?

I've also got a Valentine's surprise for Mr. CBD I'll share with you -- after I share it with him.  I can't wait!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Tarnished Grace Preview and New Linky Follower Widget

February 10, 2012

Just thought I'd share with you one of my latest designs.  The Tarnished Grace Collection is coming along, although not as quickly as I would like.  Funny how life keeps getting in the way.  But I do feel satisfaction at completing something like this.

Vintage keys and medals.

Vintage repurposed cameo and fleur-de-lis earrings.

Vintage repurposed pearl earrings.

You'll be able to find this in my Etsy store soon.

Have you joined the Linky Follower Brigade yet?  You've probably heard that non-Blogger blogs will lose their Google Friends Connect widget very soon.  I'm pretty confident that us Blogger blog people will be able to keep it, although it will no longer be affiliated with Google.  But in the event we all lose it, I thought it wise to add the Linky Followers widget for good measure.  So how's about becoming one of my new Linky followers?  It'll sure put a smile on my face.

For now the widget is at the top, in my right sidebar.  I hope to see you all there.

Well, the weekend will be filled with the usual stuff.  Plus Valentine's Day prep!  Sshhhhhh.....don't tell anyone but I have my work cut out for me if I want my loved ones' V-day surprises ready in time.  I'll be sharing those projects with you soon!

Have a great weekend!

xoxo
